First time I've seen these in London

As far as I can remember, Finsbury Sq is one of just eight places in London where pedestrian crossing timers or counts are tested.

Curious to know how effective they are - if at all - as they only count down how much time you have to cross the street AFTER the green light has gone out.

Anyone else seen these? Did they make any difference?

Sometimes it's good to go back a few years and browse through some old folders with forgotten pictures.

Some, like this one, never made it to Flickr or anywhere else. And I'm asking myself why?

Telegraph updates its iPhone app

And I quite like the new one, although I haven't played with it much yet.

But even visually it's an improvement.

Two things I've already noticed: there is a lot of scrolling, but you don't really need to go into a story to gain the ability to share headlines via Twitter, Facebook or email. Just hold your finger over the headline and the app will display sharing options. Different and nice.

What I really want to know is whether the app updates all categories in the background while browsing the home page. The NYT app does that and I really miss this functionality in other news app.
